I think at this time in Jack’s life he was young, free, and single and therefore the green baize was his life. Below are the pages detailing the playing days in the life of Jack. His records show he had 65 century breaks from October 1945 until the end of February 1947, the highest being 170. During this time he also had 3 double century breaks of 217, 225 and 230, all achieved in practice. In this period, he was playing for Meltham Conservative Club in the snooker league, and practiced a lot with Cyril Cadwell who was also a member of the Meltham club.

Apart from practice Jack is also playing in the Billiards League and the Huddersfield Billiards Handicap competition.

Jack couldn’t overcome the start he gave to Dean in the semi-final of the snooker handicap. The Billiards Championship has started.

Jack beat his club team mate, Cyril, in the 2nd round of the Billiards Championship. On the 14th March Jack was given 24 start in an exhibition match with Fred Davis and beat him by 97 – 42.

In November, the Huddersfield Snooker Championship had started. Dec 7th, “Played Norcliffe for 5£” and won.

Jack won his last Snooker Championship this year by beating Arthur Mitchell 460 – 341. At the time matches were won on aggregate and not frames.

Meltham Conservative Club ‘C’ won the Huddersfield Billiards League Final by beating ICI 4 matches to 1. Jack was selected to play for Huddersfield in the Blackpool Snooker Tournament.
